Some students say English is difficult, and that it gives them a headache, so they can't learn it well. But English is not that difficult for me. In fact, I'm good at it. I'd like to share my ideas about how to study English well.
First, I think an interest in English is very important. When I was in Grade Seven, I had a new subject: English. It was so different from Chinese, and the words all sounded different and interesting. I started to work hard on it. Soon we had an English exam and I got a very good mark. I was so happy and I liked it ever more. Besides, our English teacher often teaches us English songs and makes the classes interesting.
Second, I always listen to the teacher very carefully and try to speak more in class. One has to be very brave in order to speak and read aloud in class. I tried very hard first and now I feel quite comfortable when speaking in English. I also have a good habit: I ask whenever I have a question. My English teacher and other students are always glad to help, so my English also improves by raising questions.
Besides, I often read English stories, jokes and easy novels. From reading, I have found that English is not only a language to learn but also a culture to understand. The more I read the language, the better I become at it. Our English teacher sometimes asks us to do exercises after reading. This helps me remember the things I read. I often write English entries in my diary. Keeping a diary is also a good way to practice English writing. Sometimes I don't have much to write about, but I will still write down a few words in my diary because it has become a habit of mine.
What do you think of my ways of learning? Do you have some good ways of learning English? I hope all of us can learn the language well.

In the past ten years, many scientists have studied the differences between men and women. And they all got the same answer: The sexes are different, because their brains are different. And this, the scientists say, makes men and women see the world in different ways.
Boys, for example, generally are better than girls at mathematical ideas. Boys also generally are better than girls at the kind of hand and eye movements necessary for ball sports. Girls, on the other hand, generally start speaking earlier than boys. And they generally see better in the dark than boys and are better at learning foreign languages.
What makes men and women better at one thing or another? The answer is the brain. The brain has two sides connected by nerve tracks. The left side generally is used for mathematics, speech and writing. The right side is used for artistic creation and the expression for emotions. In men and women, different areas in each side of the brain develop differently. In boys, for example, it's the area used for mathematics. In girls, it is the area used for language skills. Another interesting difference is that the two sides of a man's brain are connected by a smaller nerve than the two sides of a woman's brain are.

Many people go to school for an education. They learn languages, history, politics, geography, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and so on. Others go to school to learn skills in order to make a living. School education is very important and useful. Yet, no one can learn everything from school. A teacher, no matter how much he knows, can not teach his students everything they want to know. The teacher's job is to show his students how to learn. He teaches them how to read and how to think. So much more is to be learned outside by the students themselves.
It is always more important to know how to study by oneself than to remember some facts or a formula. It is actually quite easy to learn a certain fact in history or a formula in mathematics. But it is very difficult to use a formula in working out a math problem. Great scientists before us didn't get everything from school. Their teachers only showed them the way.
But they were all so successful. Edison didn't even finish primary school. But he invented so many things for human beings. The reason for their success is that they knew how to study. They read books that were not taught at school. They would ask many questions as they read. They did thousands of experiments. They worked hard all their lives, wasting not a single moment. Most important, they knew how to use their brain.

Baltimore School for the Arts(BSA) has long been the dream high school for Alan McDowell, a 14-year-old schoolboy in Maryland, USA. He has hoped to become a professional dancer since he started dancing for music videos on television when he was a little boy.
The BSA is a public high school that trains its students in arts, like classical music, dance, theater and so on. Many famous singers, actors and fashion designers graduated from BSA. However, it's not easy to be a student there. The school holds auditions(试演) every year and there is a lot of competition. McDowell, together with 1,322 other kids, competed for the 116 seats in next year's class.
McDowell practiced really hard when he got the chance for the audition. “I put all of my energy into getting ready for it,”" McDowell said. He did singing exercises on weekends and after school. He spent time memorizing the lyrics of the songs he planned to perform. He also cleaned up his bedroom and made the space big enough for practice. He performed in front of his family members and friends nearly 20 times.
At the auditions last month, McDowell did very well. When he was asked to balance on one leg, he stood straight and kept the rest of his body still(不动). When he was told to lie on his back and relax, McDowell's toes moved all the way out to

Teeth are important. Strong, healthy teeth help you chew foods that help you grow. They help you speak clearly. And, they help you look your best. Here are some tips for you to take care of your teeth.
1. Brush your teeth the right way.
Brush your teeth at least twice a day—after breakfast and before bedtime. If you can, brush after lunch or after sweet snacks, too.
Brush all of your teeth, not just the front ones. Spend time brushing teeth along the sides and back of your mouth. Brush away from your gums, too.
Spend at least three minutes each time you brush. Play a song you like to help pass the time. Get a new toothbrush every three months. When you buy your toothbrush, be sure it has soft bristles(毛).
2.Learn how to floss(用细线清理)your teeth.
Flossing is a very important way to keep your teeth healthy. Food may hide in places where a toothbrush cannot get, like the space between two teeth. Flossing can help get rid of it. Carefully move the floss between two teeth, up and down. You'll need to floss your teeth at least once a day.
3. Have good eating habits.

How to protect children web fans from unsuitable material online while encouraging them to use the Internet has long been discussed in the USA.
2
For some parents, the Internet can seem like a jungle, filled with danger for their children. But jungles contain wonders as well as hazards(危险)and with good guides, some education, and a few precautions, the wilds of the Internet can be safely navigated(导航).“Kids have to be online. If we tell our kids they don't have the chances to go to the Internet, we’re cutting them off from their future,” said an expert.
3
Most kids have started to use search engines. Many of them are great for finding tons of interesting Internet sites, but they can also locate places where you might not want your kids to go. There are search engines designed just for kids.
4
A certain software only contains sites that have been selected as safe. The most popular way to limit chances of seeing hazardous websites would be to use what is known as a content screener. But this can't be wholly reliable, and the best thing parents can do is to talk to their kids and let them know what is OK or not OK to see or do via the Internet. Another way is that mum or dad is nearby when the child is surfing theInternet.
Here are a few other tips:
—Don't put the PC in a child's room, but keep it in an area where mum or dad can keep an eye on things. This also makes using the Internet more of a family activity.
—Ask your child what he or she has been doing and about any friends they make online.
—Tell your child not to give strangers online personal information, especially
like address and phone number.
—And tell your children never to talk to anyone they meet online over the phone, and send them anything, accept anything from them or agree to meet with them unless you go along.

Then I would choose to live in Canada because it is the most beautiful country in the world, I think. It is also the country I love most: fresh air, beautiful scenery ... I would own a large farm near Vancouver with various animals and plants. I know that there are many poor people in Canada, and some of them are Chinese. I would set up a company or a factory to provide them with jobs, and then the foreigners would know that we Chinese are not poor or weak. I have a lot of dreams. For example, I often dream of being a millionaire one day. How to become rich is not important. I just imagine what I will do after becoming a rich man.
This is my dream, a dream filled with a fifteen-year-old boy's
imagination. If I was a millionaire, I'd first invest part of my money to make
more money.

... English class is difficult for me. There are so many words in each lesson and I can't remember them at all. It's not easy for me to understand the teacher when she talks to the class. I never talk to my classmates in English because I don't want them to laugh at me because of my poor English. I want to give up English. I'm Chinese. I think I can have a good life without English in the future.
What do you think? Am I right? I need your help.
