HANGZHOU
The 2016 G20 Hangzhou Summit
and 19th Asian Games have placed
Hangzhou twice in the international
lime light, allowing the world to
marvel at the style of a city long
known as the paradise on earth.
More and more people are turning
their attention to this vibrant ancient
capital of the East, which is always
ready to embrace friends from all
over the world, with its long history
and colorful culture.
Hangzhou’s history of 2,200 years
began in 222 BC. Unearthed in the
area are the world's earliest canoe
and the testimony of the nation’s
civilization of 5,000 years. As the
\"most graceful and splendid city in
the world\" lauded by Marco Polo, it
is where the legend behind the music
masterpiece \"Butterfly Lovers\" took
place. Hangzhou also stands as an
outstanding representative of the
country’s Jiangnan culture, crowned
with such titles as the Chinese home
of silk and capital of tea. Its cultural
wealth is highlighted by the presence
of three World Heritage Sites, i.e.
West Lake, Beijing-Hangzhou Grand
Canal and Archaeological Ruins of
Liangzhu City.
Hangzhou is not only a millennium
urban center, but also a modern
international metropolitan. In addition
to its historical charm, the city’s trendy
fashion street blocks, global cuttingedge digital technology, young artistic
atmosphere, and relaxed aesthetics
of life will bring you a different kind of
surprise.
Coming to the city, you will enjoy
the best urban security in China
and experience the quality of life of
\"China's Happiest City\", which forever
has its welcome mat laid out for you!

Spring (March—mid-May)
Climate
The weather gradually gets warmer, with the average temperature between 15°C
and 20°C, and early summer often arrives in May.
Travel advice
A popular choice is to view the flowers, such as the plum in Xixi Wetland Park, tulips
in Prince Bay Park, and canola in Eight Diagrams Field. You can hike in the green hills or
boat on the West Lake. A visit to Longjing tea garden is also a great option.
Seasonal food
Spring bamboo shoot is the top choice for your palate. You can taste it in traditional
dishes such as Pian’erchuan noodle, braised bamboo shoots, and Yanduxian pickled
pork stew. A cup of freshly picked West Lake Longjing tea will leave your gastronomic
trip no regret.

steadily above 30°C, sometimes, even
hitting 40°C.

Autumn (October—Early December)
Winter (Early December—February)
Climate
While the autumn air is cool and crispy, the temperature is gradually dropping
and the night could be chilly. Since the weather cools significantly in November, it is
necessary to have warm clothes ready.
Travel advice
Autumn in Hangzhou is short but gorgeous. The blooming sweet osmanthus
flowers at Manjuelong, the changing yellow oriental plane leaves along Beishan Street,
the red maple forests at Jiuxi Creek, and the ripening rice fields in Liangzhu combine
to paint a colorful scroll.
Seasonal food
Food and drink containing sweet osmanthus flowers are the choice of the days. You
can taste them in snacks like glutinous rice lotus roots, glutinous rice cakes. It's also a
time to try freshly roasted sugared chestnuts and newly-harvested persimmons.
Climate
The average temperature hovers between 4°C~12°C, the lowest temperature can
be below zero. The air is humid and if you're lucky you may see snowfall.
Travel advice
If you like outdoor activities, you can travel to nearby Lin 'an or Tonglu to try snow
skiing. If you want to stay away from the cold air, find a warm teahouse for a leisurely
afternoon. And there are always a host of traditional activities during the Spring
Festival for you to enjoy.
Seasonal food
Steaming lamb pot and Lin'an warm pot are two major choices to help you ward off
the bitter chill.
