WhoMulee.Lab was established in early 2021, a Melbourne-based company that mainly produces

handmade aromatherapy and other related

products. We are founded by 3 young entrepreneurs that came from different backgrounds

with a common interest in providing the most

natural and customisable fragrancing aromatherapy products.

Our ideas were inspired by the traditional Asian

culture of incense as well as our deliberate goal

of promoting Asian culture in Australia. The

name of our company came from 2 characters in

Chinese – 沐蓠, which, respectively, represents

wood and a type of natural ingredient that was

commonly used in making traditional Chinese

incense.

What

The biggest feature of our products is the

nature of recyclable, pollu�on-free, as

well as green and sustainable. As our aim

of promo�ng tradi�onal Chinese culture,

our products will be presented in combina�on with tradi�onal cultural elements

such as its wooden packaging, and its

second feature of daily home decora�on.

Each fragrance is cra�ed using all-natural

ingredients and handcra�ed through a

sequence of manufacturing processes to

provide the best quality outcome. The

dimension of the aromatherapy is roughly

300 mm in height and 300 grams in

weight to achieve its lightweight and portable feature. We source our suppliers

carefully to ensure the quality of our

ingredients, we put our eyes onto local

suppliers to enable us in crea�ng products

that are common across the country while

s�ll suppor�ng our local businesses to

survive and grow in post-covid situa�on.

While we were shopping for home

fragrance products at a local store or

bigger shopping centres, we were

absolutely drawn into the appearance

and scent of the products.

However, we soon discovered an obvious issue with these fragrances –

when these fragrances are used or

exposed in air for a period of �me, the

fragrance is no longer as strong as

when we first unpacked them from

their packaging, it o�en means that it

is �me to replace them for a new one.

The shortness of life�me is certainly a

serious issue that draws our a�en�on,

a�er several discussions & researches,

we’ve decided to look into crea�ng a

replaceable solid fragrance embedded

in the aromatherapy. When the

fragrance is insufficient or is fading

out, our users could just easily replace

the internal essence, which can

reduce the unnecessary waste such as

diffuser & candle bo�les that just

ended up in landfill a�er single use. In

addi�on, users can place the product

as a decora�on at home or in the car,

without worrying about swaying the

fragrance .

We plan to use sandalwood as the main

material due to the durable nature of the

wood and its func�ons of sterilisa�on and

mildew resistance. As users may only

need to replace the solid essence embedded in the product, the material on the

wood should be durable as the basic

principle. To make each product &

appearance more personal and relatable,

we’ve decided to make the appearance

into cute wooden characters, and each

character is a�ached to a different scent.

However there are also opportuni�es for

mix & match the character with different

scent for a be�er target & customisa�on.

We’ve outlined a few of our main

fragrance & its ingredients to help you

be�er understand our products:

Rose

The aroma of rose can be said

to be one of the most representa�ve of women's flavours, not

only elegant and restrained, but

also has a roman�c and charming charm.

Lavender

Lavender essen�al oil can help

you relieve stress and feel more

calm, and it may also help with

insomnia.

Jasmine aromatherapy

Use jasmine oil to calm the

mind, promote sleep or reduce

depression.

Where

As our members were all raised up in China, we have

a very strong inten�on to promote Asian culture. If we

were to trace back to the originality of Chinese

incense culture, it would be around B.C. 770, which is

also called the warring state period in ancient China.

Back in the ancient �mes, the main ingredients for

incense produc�on were the flowers & plants, it takes

a very complicated produc�on process. The produc-

�on process includes but is not limited to flower picking, screening, grinding & drying, all requires extreme

carefulness & me�culousness. Incense was widely

used during the ancient �mes, it can be seen in the

daily life of the ordinaries, such as on clothing, home

fragrancing, small fragrance sachets, living utensils as

well as sacrificial supplies. To a certain extent, the

gradual development and fermenta�on of the

incense culture could also represent the na�onal

culture of China, hence we would love to bring such

culture to the world.

As a team that strives to provide the best quality products & services, we are aiming to

fund $150,000 as a star�ng point to get us started in the produc�on phase. Apart from

the 10% that needs to be put aside for the basic business registra�on expenses, we are

going to designate 20% of our funds into R&D of ingredients and scents that we could

offer to our consumers. As the selling point of our products is the flexibility & personalisa�on of desired scents, it is important that we put a reasonable amount of funds into

the physical landscape.

A�er careful considera�on

& well conducted market

research, we’ve decided to

spend 20% in the design &

equipment of our physical

store to ensure a well

structured experimental

space is provided for customers to play around

with, in order to formulate

their personalised

fragrances. Even though

our aim is to provide an

experimental space for

customers, we would

the beginning. To avoid

massive expenses in rental

& u�li�es, we are considering se�ng up the physical store in a space that we

own - our garage / backyard, then progressively

moving into larger commercial space for future

advancement. Considering the low level of knowledge that the customers

may have in terms of

fragrance crea�on - we are

going to provide superthe customers through the en�re process un�l desired

scent is formulated. Given that in mind, an amount of 25%

would need to be put into human resources for hiring qualified & experienced fragrance creators. Then of course our

produc�on would take up roughly 15% of our funds to

ensure top quality product is produced in the set �me

frame. The rest 10% would go into marke�ng & adver�sing

to ensure a strong appearance into the aromatherapy

We are so passionate about

this project as we believe everyone has their unique

scent that best suits them,

we would like to provide everyone with wider choices

of fragrances, not just the

ordinary scents that well

known brands carry in the

market. Apart from the

nature of personalisa�on,

we are also keen to u�lise

more of the natural ingredients to create scents that

are outside of people’ s

imagina�on, something

that is able to surprise the

users. At this stage, as we

are currently placing our

focus on home fragrances

and diffusers that are portable and interchangeable

between different scents,

we are trying to bring out

products that are not available in the current market

& provide customers with

a completely different

experience about home

fragrance and diffuser.

Although our project is nothing big and does not change

the world, we do hope to be able to change the small world

that we are all living in - our personal space, a place that

best represents who we are.

So far, we have officially launched our instagram account -

named Mulee.Lab, we are in the produc�on stage of our

website & preparing our design of the final products. Stay

CHALLENGES

Due to the current pandemic being

the main unknown factor that

would most likely hit our supply

chain, we’ll do our best to stay on

top of the produc�on schedule and

work closely with our local suppliers to minimise any poten�al

delays. We will be communica�ng

with our backers for any sorts of

unexpected factors, but we will

always fulfil the promises made to

our backers at all �mes and costs.

Another foreseeable factor that is

highly likely to impact our supply

chain is the worsened infla�on rate

across Australia and worldwide

due to factors such as increased

petrol prices, food prices that are

driven by high transport, fer�liser,

packaging costs as well as ingredient

shortages. However, we are able to

manage the poten�al ramifica�ons

through well structured reviews with

our suppliers to determine an

agreed price that incorporates all the

input sources which are required by

the suppliers’ to provide us with the

best possible ingredients. The major

goal with our suppliers is to form

ongoing long term partnerships that

are beneficial to all par�es, hence

we have agreed to a reasonable percentage of price increase under the

pressure of economic infla�on. As

we do care for the willingness &

posi�on of our suppliers in order to

create a win-win situa�on that

enables us to grow together as businesses to bring jobs & opportuni�es

to local communi�es.

Our research has extended the life�me of

our solid fragrance ball to 2 months compared to what the market has on offer - less

than 1 month. However with our heavy

investment in research & development, it is

expected that we will be able to deliver

products with an ever longer life�me in the

near future.

2. Can your products be used during pregnancy?

Of course! All our products are 100%

sourced from natural ingredients, with no

ar�ficial addi�ons during the produc�on

process, it is safe to use during pregnancy.

3. How long does it take for customised

fragrance to be produced and delivered?

Delivery �me may vary depending on your

loca�on, it would generally take around 5 - 7

business days for delivery. The customised

solid fragrance ball would take 3-5 business

days to produce then ship out to you, ideally

10 business days between order and delivery, however minor delays may occur due to

the current pandemic.

4. I have absolutely 0 knowledge about

scents & fragrance, how can I make my own

personalised scent?

We have professionals onsite to guide you

through the process of making your ownde

sired fragrance at no extra cost,

carrying 0 knowledge should not be

a worry at all!

5. Do you offer any personalisa�on

on the appearance of the product?

Not at this stage, but we will definitely look into providing customers

with more customisa�on op�ons in
