Working principle
The working principle of an activated carbon adsorption chamber is to utilize the adsorptive capacity of the
activated carbon adsorbent surface. By bringing the waste gas into contact with the porous activated carbon
adsorbent material, which features a large surface area, pollutants in the waste gas are adsorbed onto the
surface of the activated carbon. This separates them from the gas mixture, allowing the purified gases to be
emitted into the atmosphere.

Working principle
◆ Organic exhaust gas first undergoes dry filtration to capture and remove particulate pollutants. The gas then enters the adsorption stage,
where honeycomb activated carbon, with its high specific surface area, adsorbs organic solvents onto its surface. The purified air stream is
subsequently discharged through a fan and chimney.
◆ Upon reaching saturation through sustained adsorption, the activated carbon initiates the desorption-catalytic combustion process. Hot
airflow desorbs the previously adsorbed organic solvents from the carbon surface. These solvents undergo catalytic combustion,
converting them into harmless substances such as CO₂ and water vapor while releasing heat. A portion of this reaction heat is recovered
via a heat exchanger to preheat the desorption airflow.
◆ When desorption progresses sufficiently, the exothermic reaction achieves equilibrium with the desorption heating requirement, enabling
complete regeneration without external energy input.
CATALYST SELECTION
◆ ♦The operating temperature of the catalyst is generally not lower than 300°C, the operating air velocity is controlled below 20000h-1, and
the air in the exhaust gas is ensured to be excessive. The one-time removal rate of organic exhaust gas can reach more than 98%, and the
dust content of the exhaust gas is controlled below 50mg/m3.
◆ Organic waste gas cannot contain substances such as S, As, Cl, Pb, P, etc. that may easily poison the catalyst.
◆ The maximum temperature resistance of the catalyst is 700°C
◆ Determination of filling amount: normal filling amount = exhaust gas volume flow rate + design air speed.
PRINCIPLE OF ORGANIC WASTE GAS ADSORPTION PURIFICATION
◆ The organic exhaust gas to be treated is ducted into a dry filter for particulate removal, then directed to activated carbon adsorption beds.
The number of beds (configured as parallel adsorption with single desorption or multiple adsorption with single desorption) is determined
by gas flow rate. A valve manifold switches gas streams between beds, enabling alternating operation of adsorption units.
◆ Within each adsorption bed, VOCs are captured and retained on the activated carbon surface, purifying the gas stream. The treated gas is
ultimately discharged through a fan discharge system via 15-meter elevated stacks.
