Instructions for Use and Maintenance of Formwork Panels
USAGE
The formwork panels are mostly used in construction for concrete shuttering. Before usage, the user/contractor
should check whether the panel surface quality is sufficient for the desired concrete surface quality. As the
formwork panels are made of solid wood, wood texture can be visible on the concrete surface. Therefore, the
formwork panel producer does not undertake any responsibility for the quality of the concrete surface. After use,
traces of the edge protective varnish on the concrete surface may also be visible.
The panels are supported at intervals as specified in the diagram of intervals in the producer's brochure.
When assembling or disassembling formwork panels, utmost attention should be paid to minimising the damage
to the panels through the use of saws, nails or other fasteners. You should also be careful not to damage the
surface of the boards with a hammer or sharp objects. Such damages inevitably affect the quality of the concrete
surface.
Before applyi n g concrete , the panels should always be treated with formwork oil and thoroughly
moistened/sprinkled with water in order to minimise the risk of the concrete sticking to the panels. You should be
very careful when removing the shuttering especially if the panels are nailed, screwed or fastened in any other
way. It is essential to prevent the falling of the panels from greater heights and any resulting damage which might
occur.
MAINTENANCE
After use, the panels should be cleaned of all residues and placed on a flat surface. For the protection of the
shuttering, a paraffin paste or formwork oils should be used in accordance with the producer’s instructions. The
panels should be kept in a covered and shady place. If stored outdoors, the panels should be covered with a sheet
shall (a tarpaulin plane) protecting them against harmful weather conditions (sun, rain) . If the panels are
exposed to the sun, splits and/or cracks may appear on the outer layer. Such panels must be properly moistened
with water before next use! Apart from that, fading (discolouration) may appear on the surface protection,
which, however, does not significantly affect the functionality of the panel. Due to the components and the
colours of wood, the panels may stain brownish when exposed to rain.
WARNING
In extreme weather conditions (significant deviations from normal humidity and temperature, or longer periods of
dry and hot weather) you should take extra care of the shuttering, mostly making sure that the panels are not
exposed to the heat of the sun for longer periods. Should you fail to do so, longitudinal cracks on the outer layer
may appear, which significantly affect the lifetime of formwork panels and the quality of the concrete surface.
Such panels should be properly moistened with water before use, otherwise they might be permanently damaged
due to the intrusion of the concrete emulsion into the cracks!
Moreover, wooden formwork panels contain certain wood components, such as tannic acid or resins, which
might cause stains on the concrete surface.

Application:
CDX Plywood is the most used product in the construction industry for the foundation of building and roofing due to its sturdy
nature.
It is dense and heavy due to pressing a large number of plies together, making it a preferred and cost-effective solution.
Pianoplywood is a leading producer of CDX Plywood in China focus on a high-quality product and service.
CDX is a specific type of plywood and not a thickness indicator.
•1/4-inch – thinner plywood will break. For CDX plywood, you shouldn’t use anything less than 1/4-inch, which works for indoor
projects and cabinetry.
•3/8-inch – only slightly more significant than the minimum safety allowance. If you want something that won’t break without
adding too much, this will work.
•1/2-inch – very common. 1/2-inch plywood is the most common size, and if you’re unsure which size you need, then 1/2-inch
will work for any project.
•5/8-inch – also typical for most projects. While not as popular as the next larger or smaller size, it does work well. If it’s
available, then go for it. You won’t regret the decision.
•3/4-inch – ideal for thickness, but isn’t too wide for most projects. The plywood isn’t recommended for interior projects due to
its weight. For exterior projects, this works well.
•1-inch and more –if it’s thicker than 1-inch, you should know beforehand what your project will entail. Projects requiring

CDX stands for:
•C – veneer grade for one strip of plywood.
•D – veneer grade for one strip of plywood.
•X –glue used to connect both veneers. This makes the plywood
durable and rugged. It has nothing to do with “exterior.”

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is OSB The Same As CDX Plywood?
OSB is not the same as CDX plywood. While they can both be usedfor similar projects, they
aren’t entirely interchangeable.
What Happens if CDX Plywood Gets Wet?
CDX plywood is made for outdoor use. It can absorb water without harming the wood and
will dry out quickly. But it should always have a moisture barrier in place and be covered
with some type of covering, like roofing.
Is CDX Plywood The Best Plywood?
CDX is considered the best in many cases. However, there isn’t a number one plywood
overall. There is simply the best plywoodfor each job. The prettiest is A grade, while the
strongest is D grade.
Is CDX Plywood Treated?
CDX plywood is not necessarily treated. You will need to look for the term “pressure-treated”
on the plywood itself if you want to know. The plywood grade is not related to whether it is
treated.
Is CDX Plywood Fire-Rated?
CDX plywood is better to use aroundfires than other plywood. But the treatment is really
what a fects the fire-rating. Treated wood is more fire-resistant than untreated wood, so
check for this detail.
What Is The Di ference Between CDX And ACX Plywood?
The difference is that ACX plywood will have a pretty and delicate side, while CDX will look
much rougher. One side of the ACX plywood will be sanded and smooth.

Bendable Plywood is a unique product for the ease with which it can
take any curvature and rounded shapes, including “S” or circular.
Bendable Plywood is suitable in the creation or the coating of curved
columns, arches cabinet applications, curved furniture parts and
fixtures in restaurants, reception and office work stations, stage sets,
spiral stairways, boats, caravans, and interior architecture in general.

Bonding (formerly called IF20) is made with urea-formaldehyde glue (UF) and is in compliance with
the provisions of the EN 314-2 standard.
After suitable treatment in view of resistance to humidity, the board complies to Class
1 requirements for the use of boards in dry environments (EN 636-1).
Class 2 (formerly called AW100 or MR),for uses subject to exposure to moisture variation, can also
be produced upon request with melamine gluing.
Usage and storage instructions
– Store the panels lying flat in a clean, shaded, dry place.
– Panels should be transported on a hard flat surface. Single panels can be rolled, but should not
remain in this position for long periods.
– Do not expose the panel to sudden changes in humidity, temperature, and also protect it from
sunlight.
– Glue the panels while they are brought into the desired shape. When the glue is dry, panel will
retain its shape.
– High Pressure Laminate or paper-backed veneer can be applied during the initial curving process,
or in a second step.
– Any wood glue can be used.

• The protective char is non-hygroscopic in nature. It will not a fect the hardware elements that may corrode due
to moisture a finity of common chemicals.
• The chemical is non-leachable hence there is no loss of the retardant chemicals in very adverse conditions. Does

•No significant efect on the strength properties (adhesive bonding) compared to normal grade (BWR, BWP)

Construction:
Block board is made up of a core ofsoftwood strips. The
strips are placed edge to edge and sandwiched between
veneers of hardwood. A single veneer on both sides is
known as 3-ply. A double veneer on both sides is called
