Airfuse linksaresuitableforprimarysidetransformer protection,fuse switch combination unit, fuse bases and fuse switches.
Selectionoffusetheselinkshasbeenbasedon acompromisebetweenthe following:
1-Thefuselinksshouldwithstandtransformer magnetisinginrushcurrents,takenas12timesfullload currentfor0.1seconds.
2- The fuse linksshould discriminate with the highest ratingof secondary fuse links.
3-The fuse links should withstand periodic overcurrents ofupto 15o% of transformer fuse load current.
4- The fuse linksshould operate reasonably quickly in the eventofatransformerinter-turnfaultorafaultinthe secondaryterminalzoneofthetransformer.

a)Theaboverecommendationsarenotgenerally applicable totransformersfeedingmotorcircuitswith startingcurrentsinexcessof the Current fuse. Inthis event,pleaseconsultEatonapplicationengineers.

Eaton's Bussmann series expulsion fuse linksare designed to be interchangeable with other types of manufacturers cut-out unitsand are available in several patterns.
Application
Expulsion fuse links current ratings should be selected on the basis of maximum expected transient no damage currents ratherthanon full load current. Inaddition, theselection of highercurrent ratings will reduce the possibility of supply interruption due to transient surges suchas those due to lightning strikes (for information on our Surge Protection Device SPD,please contact buletechnical@eaton.com.
Links should be handled with a reasonable degree of care when installing. Excessively rough handling may damage the element.
It is normal,under certain fault conditions,for arc extinguishing material and/ormetal particles to be expelled from the fuse assembly.Itistherefore recommended thatreasonable precautions be taken to prevent the installation being approached by unauthorised persons.
