Description:
The fillingandcontrol fitting 2480.00.32.21isusedtofill,vary thepressure setting (e.g.when testingtools) andmeasure the gas pressure.
The coupling enables the filling hose to beconnected directly to the gas cylindervalve or the pressure regulator.
If thefitting isusedsolelyfor checking purposes,asimplified arrangementnot connected to the gas cylinder isalso possible.
Closing the shut-off valve of the fillinghoseenablesthe filling to be used to measure the charging pressure in theaccumulator/ Cam Unit,without detaching the hose.
For constant gas monitoring,we recommend connectingacontrol fitting 2480.00.30.or 2480.00.31.
Theadapterwhichisrequired for fillingthepower/camunits (2480.00.32.11) comes as standard with thefilling and control fiting (2480.00.32.21).
Note:
2480.00.31.02 Filling hose 2m long with quick release coupling, shut-off valveand gasbottle connector (orderseparately).

Thisexample shows howa compact cam (1)can be used for punching holes.Thepunchcanbemounted directlyto the Compact Cam,which meansthatnoadditionalguidesare required inthe tool.Thediagram shows that the Power Unit doesnot havetobe installed in thevicinity of the Cam Unit,making itmuch more flexiblecomparedtoconventional mechanical systems.We recommend fitting a stripping unit (2) to the punch.
Workingsequence
When the top part of the tool moves down,itactuates theclamping pad (3) that holds the workpiece in position.Theclampingpad is centred with respect to the bottom partofthetoolbyconicalspacers. Once the clamping pad reaches its position, the Power Unit is actuated (4) and the Cam Unit executes its operation.
This example shows how one or more Cam Units (1) canbe used to drive embossing punches (2) (or tool slides) inamachine tool.Thepunch (orslide) is guided in the tool.This methodofdrivingtoolcomponents allowsconsiderableflexibilityinthe machine tool layout.The Cam Unit only generates themotionand force. Onlyshearingand tensile forcesare permitted.
Workingsequence

The filling slide (2) is first moved into position, controlledbytheoverflow wedge (3).Asthepress descends further,the four Power Units (4)are pressurised,causing the Cam Units (5) to punch the holes.In thisarrangement, the hole punching operationrequiresnoother drivers,whichmeans that it caneasilybe performed at anangleof 9 0 ^ { \circ } to the workpiece.
6 holes are punched at a negative angle using working cylinders that drive ashearing punch unit (1).
Workingsequence:
The diagram shows the Flex Cam in itsend position (pressatbottom dead centre).As the working cylinder (2) starts to move back,the punch moves out of the punching area.The entire shearing punch thenswivels down so that theworkpiece can beremoved.Theoperation is reversed when the top partof the pressdown descends once more.The tool contains two systems: one on the left and the other on the right.Each system consists ofa Power Unit (3) that drives three Cam Units.

Thistool producestwoworkpieces atthesame time:one ontheright and the other on the left. On the left-handsideofthediagram, the press isatthetopdeadcentre position.On the right-hand side, the press isatthebottomdeadcentre. Thetransport gripperscanbeseen above the Cam Units.
The workpiece must be shaped before the holes are punched in the sides.
The machining contour requires a relatively largedistance between the blank and the punching unit.
Working sequence:
Asmall Cam Unit (1) is connected to a largerPowerUnit (2) inorderto guaranteethenecessarytime/ traversesequence.This resultsina strokeratioof1to2.5.
Example: If the Power Unit stroke is 1 0 \mathsf {mm } ,then the CamUnitstrokewill be 2 5 \mathsf {mm }

This application uses a Flex Cam that is suspended from above (in the top part of the tool).
Working sequence:
The Cam Unit (1) ismounted on a floating die (2).The floating die is spring-mountedandiscentredwith respecttothebottompartof thetool byconical spacers.As thepress moves down and the floating die is centred,the Power Unit (3) is activated and the holesare punched.
Before theFlexCamwasinstalled, the holeswere punched vertically using oval forming punches.
Due to the improved production outputandqualitythat resulted from installing the Flex Cam,thesystem paid for itself (including installation) within just three months.
Flex Cam TypicalApplications
The diagram showsa base plate which is used in the Flex Cam (1) to cant (bend up) lateral tabs (2).
Working sequence:
The bending punches fixed to the Cam Units (in this case Flange Cams) aresupported at the sides (3).These supports absorbthesevere lateral forces resulting fromthe bending operation.
Without this system,it wouldhavebeen necessarytoproducean entire new tool with a floatingdieortointroduce asecond operation.
This tool has two Force Cylinders fordriving an 8 0 0 ~ \mathsf {mm } wide bending punch.
Workingsequence:
Ascanbeseenfromthe diagram,theblankisbent (1)atanangle,against the motionof the press.
Two separate Flex Cam to synchronise the motion of the bending punch.Each system consists ofa Power Unit (2)anda Force Cylinder (3).
