General Overview
With many years of experience in the design, manufacture and application of Medium Voltage
switchgear, Eaton pioneered the use of vacuum technology in the 1930s and introduced epoxy-resin
insulation in the 1950s. Being at the forefront of technological advances, Eaton remains committed to
product development, innovation, and improvement, while also striving to reduce size and cost.
Power Xpert GX is 12kV gas-insulated metal-enclosed high-voltage switchgear. The high-voltage parts
are installed in a sealed stainless steel tank filled with low-pressure nitrogen or dry air as the insulating
medium, which can effectively prevent adverse effects such as dirt, moisture, and external air pressure,
improve the reliability of insulation, and have good anti-aging and anti-corrosion properties.
The product is suitable for 12kV three-phase AC 50Hz single busbar and single bus-sectional system. It
controls, protects, and monitors power circuits of power plant power supply, substation, industrial and
mining enterprises, etc., as well as high humidity (or condensation), high altitude, dirty and other harsh
environment.
The materials in products are fully recyclable to ensure safety and effectively recycle after their life cycle.

Expandible Busbar System
The main busbar between switchgears can be expanded through a
special busbar coupler
Interlocking
• Mechanical interlock between the VCB and the three-position
disconnector prevent the disconnector/Earthing switch be
operated while VCB closed
• The earthing switch is designed as one unit with the
disconnector. The operation process ensures that the circuit
can’t energized and grounded at the same time
Arcing pressure relief
• A pressure relief valve is installed
at the bottom of the gas tank.
When an arc fault occurs in the

relief valve to release hot
temperature and high-pressure

Sealed gas tank

the disconnector and grounding switch in structure
• The cable side earthing is achieved by the VCB ensure strong
making capacity

The three-phase linear three-position disconnector combines the earthing switch

Primary Components
The switchgear installation site and channel settings should comply with the relevant provisions of \"GB 50053 Design Specifications for 20kV
and Below Substations\".
The installation foundation should comply with the relevant provisions of the \"Technical Specifications for Construction and Acceptance of
Power Construction\".
The flatness error of the foundation shall not exceed 1mm per meter. The total length error shall not exceed 3mm.
According to the project needs and the drawings, the switchgear shall be transported to a specific location; if a row of switchgear is arranged
(more than 10 units), it is recommended to start the assembly from the middle.
Appropriate transportation tools such as cranes and forklifts should be used at site. It is strictly forbidden to use rollers and crowbars.
When installing, first level the first panel or the first connection surface to ensure both horizontal and vertical requirements.
The panel should be installed in order after calibrating the first one, paying attention to aligning the side holes with the connection surface of
the installed switchgear.
1. The upper surface of the basic profile should be 2-5mm higher than the room floor after completion;
2. The flatness tolerance of the basic profile is ±1mm/m;
3. The straightness tolerance of the basic profile is ±1mm/m;
4. The height difference between two adjacent profiles is 0.5mm/m;
5. The depth of the cable channel should meet the bending radius of the primary cable. When laying the cable, the reserved cable
length is 1.5m higher than the floor of the power distribution room. (reserved for cable terminal and connection)
6. The switchgear is fixed on the channel steel and adjusted to the level and connected with screws. (M12 screws are welded on the
inside of the channel steel for easy connection)

The packaged product can be transported by electric forklift or crane.
The product is equipped with lifting rings for lifting, and the length of the lifting rope is not less than 2m.
The product should be stored in a dry, ventilated and dust-free place before installation.
