Chapter 1 Precautions for tester Installation
Before testing each day, please turn on the power to warm up for 1 0 ~ 3 0 minutes.
The protective ground wire of the power supply must be reliably connected to the ground,otherwise, the tester cover may be lactiferous and the tester iselectrostatically interfered with.
Once the product is out of control, turn off the power immediately.
The time interval between turning the power switch off and on again must exceed 20 seconds.
Chapter 2 Brief Operating Procedures
1. Power on
Turn on the power and warm up for 1 0 { ~ } 3 0 minutes.
2. Parameter setting
Set V(test),Force,Deformation,distance L1 and Bend Length L2
3. SamplePreparation
Cut one sample at a time. The edges of the sample should be straight and parallel,with clean and undamaged cuts. The sample should be marked to indicate the testing direction and the testing surface. During sample preparation and subsequent handling,extreme care must be taken to avoid damaging the sample.When dimension L is in the longitudinal direction, the measurement reflects longitudinal stiffness.At least 1O samples should be cut for each direction.
4. Place sample
Select the most suitable test length and adjust the instrument accordingly. The support points are typically arranged such that 2 L _ { 1 } is approximately equal to L _ { 2 } :
Place the sample on the lower pair of support points,and carefully adjust the upper (inner) pair of support points so that they just make contact with the sample.At this point, there should be no applied load.
5. Testing
Click on the touch screen or the metal button [Test] to start the test. The test result is displayed on the screen.
6. Data query, statistics,and printing
Each screen displays 10 sets of test data.Data printing is divided into single printing and statistical printing.Select one of the data for single printing. unselect it or press the key M and then press the key 骨 for statistical printing.
7. Power off
Turn off the power switch.
Chapter 3 Introduction
PN-4PF500F 4-Point Bending Stiffness Tester is a corrugated board bending stiffness testing instrument designed and developed based on relevant standards using the multi-point loading method. It is suitable for two-point, three-point, and four-point bending strength tests of various corrugated boards and rigid paperboards,as well as bending strength tests of other materials such as graphite.
This instrument adopts the four-point bending method.
Bending stiffness refers to the unit resistance moment generated when paper or paperboard is subjected to bending force within the elastic deformation range.Higher bending stiffness provides the board with certain rigidity and strength,enhancing the box's resistance to bulging and improving the protective capability of its contents.
During testing,the sample is placed on two adjustable supports.Upon pressing the start button, the upper pressure bar descends to apply a load to the sample.The deformation is measured under a preset force,or the force is measured under a preset deformation, to calculate the bending stiffness value.

1) 【Distance】
Click the [Distance] key to enter the platen distance setting interface.
The distance between the upper and lower side is set according to the test requirements. You can directly enter the value of the platen spacing,or you can use the keys to adjust.
2) 【Test Speed】
Adjustable between(1-500) mm/min
3) 【Force】
Force in the normal direction of the unbent specimen at each support point (formost instruments, the measured force is 2F).
4) 【Deformation】
The deflection of the specimen is measured at the midpoint between the inner support points,determined along the line connecting the contact points of the two inner supports with the specimen,expressed in mm.
5) 【Width】
The width of the sample is 1 0 0 ~ \mathsf {mm } or 5 0 ~ \mathsf {mm } =
6) 【Distance L1】
The distance L1,is the measured distance between one of the outer supporting anvils and the point of application of the neighbouring force,F.
7) 【Bend Length L2】
The bending length L2, is the distance between the points of application of the two inner forces and the two inner anvils.
8) 【Save】
Themodified parameters will take effect immediately. If you do not save the parameters, the parameters willbe restored to the last saved values when you turn on the machine next time.The parameter save password is "1253".
(2)[System] interface
In the[Test] interface,click the key 安 to enter the [System] interface, which has the following parameters or functions: system parameters,unit switching, language selection,network settings,tester calibration,backup recovery, optional,and time settings.

5) [Calibration]
The tester should be calibrated regularly as needed. The recommended calibration period isone year. See chapter 9 fordetails.

The initial load is the baseline load used to start calculating the deformation.
8) [Time]
Modify system time and date, input format:year ^ + month ^ + day ^ + hour ^ + minute ^ + second.
7.5 [Support] Interface
In the [Test Center],press the □_日 button to enter the [Support] interface to obtain related manuals,operation videos, or related information.
Chapter 8 Test
8.1 Power on
Turn on the power of the tester and the system self-checks as shown in the figure below:
After the self-check is completed,enter the[Test] interface,as shown in the figure below:

If the force value display is not O before any sample is placed, please click the force value displayarea to reset.
8.2 Sample information setting
□ In the[Test] interface,click the button on the left side of the [Sample] to display company information, tester,remarks,and return,and click the corresponding option to operate.

8.3 Sampling and treatment
The sample is taken according to ISO 186,and the treatment is according to ISO 187.
8.4 Test
Parameter Settings
Set the test speed, loading force, deformation, sample width,distance L1, and bend length L2. (It is recommended to set them slightly larger than the sample dimensions.) Fordetails,refer to Chapter7.
SamplePreparation
Cut one sample at a time,ensuring the edges are straight, parallel,and neatly trimmed without damage.Mark the sample to indicate the test direction and test surface.Handle the sample with extreme care during preparation and handling to avoid any damage.When dimension L is in the longitudinal direction, the measurement reflects longitudinal stiffness.At least 10 samples should be cut for each direction.
SamplePlacement
Select the most suitable test length and adjust the instrument .The support points should typically be arranged so that 2 \mathsf { L } 1 \approx \mathsf { L } 2 . \mathsf { P } | lace the sample on the lower pair of support points, then adjust the upper pair to lightly contact the sample without applying any load.
Test
Press on the touch screen or the metal button [Test] key to start Until the stacking condition is reached. The test process displays the force value, deformation,and curve in real-time. The test is over and reset,and the test result is displayed on the screen.As shown below:

Follow the above to test multiple samples.The tester can save up to 10 test results,and if thereare more than10,the latest10 test resultswillbe saved.
Calculation of bending stiffness
The bending stiffness S of sample is calculated according to Formula(1)

According to the formula,L1,L2,and b remain constant, with F (load force) and d (deflection) being the only variables.The test can be conducted either by:
(1) Setting a specific deflection to measure the corresponding force,or (2)Applying a predetermined force to measure the resulting deflection

Test report description:
01,02,03:is the test serial number.
Average bending stiffness-S:the average value of bending stiffness of multiple samples in the same batch.
Average deformation: the average deformation of multiple samples in the same batch. Standard Deviation-SD describes the average of the distance (deviation from the mean) that each data deviates from the mean.It is the square root of the square sum of the deviation from the mean.
Coefficient of Variation-CV: The ratio of standard deviation to average.
8.5 Testing result processing
(1) Single test result curve display
In the test [curve] interface of [Data Center], you can query all test results by presing the keyand can also perform operations suchas printing and deleting.
(2) Bar graph display
In the[Test Curve] interface, press the key to display the test result in a bar graph.
Click [Force value N] to pop up the force etc. option.select according to your
needs.
(3) Data deletion
Select one or more data and press the key todeletethe selected data.
without selecting any data, press the key
to clearall the saved test data.
(4) Data statistics
In the [Data Center] interface,press the key £ to display the statistical report of all test results this time,including the average,maximum,minimum, standard deviation,and coefficient of variation.

(5) Result printing
Single print:
Select one or more data,click the key to print the selected data.
Statistics printing:
Click the [Statistics] key first, then click the key to print the statistics report.
Chapter 9 Tester Calibration and Maintenance
Calibration includes force value calibration and screen calibration. For force value calibration, please operate by professionals with metrological qualifications.The general calibration cycle is one year.
9.1Force calibration
In the [Test] interface,click the 安 $$ 回 $$ T key to get into the calibrationinterface.
Before calibration, apply the maximum test force at least three times as the preload (add force to full scale, repeat 3 times).
The calibration adopts a standard dynamometer, place the sensor of the standard dynamometer in the middle position of the pressure plate of the tester then adjusts the distance between the pressure plates to a suitable position and set the return speed to 1 { {mm / m i n } } .Performcalibrationat calibration point 4( 8 0 % of full scale). Observe the force value displayed on the tester.If the deviation from the standard dynamometer exceeds 1 % , calibrate it.
Click [Calibrate] to pop up a digital dialog box, enter the force value of the standard dynamometer,and then click ,enter "1253",and the calibration is completed.and other calibration points can be calibrated as needed.
9.2 Distance Calibration
If there is a deviation between the platens displayed by the tester and the actual distance value,distance calibration is required.
In the test center,click 安 $$ 回 $$ [Distance]to enter the spacing calibrationinterface.

Measure the actual distance between the the upper and lower side,click the [distance calibration] button,the numeric keyboard will pop up,and then enter the actual distance between the upper and lower pressure plates.
The actual distance between the upper and lower platens is accurateat 0 . 1 \mathsf {mm }
9.3 Maintenance of the tester
\bullet To prolong the service life of the instrument and reduce the abrasion of mechanical parts,grease the polished rod and Ball screw rod regularly (usuallyabout half a year).
\bullet Keep instrument clean.
\bullet Long time when not in use,be sure to take down the power plug from the power socket.
Chapter 10 Intelligent Information Network Connection
The tester has a variety of connection forms,which can be connected to a computer via USB,serial port,WiFl network,and transmit test data to a designated local or cloud server.
10.1 Wireless network connection
Referto the description in Chapter 7 for the wireless connection method. After networking, turn on the [Data Storage] function,and the test results can be transmitted to the server in real-time via the WiFl network for use by the managementsystem.
10.2 Other forms of connection
In[Test Center], press 回四 to enter the [More Setings] interface.

Chapter 11 Troubleshooting
Fault 1: Distance is not accurate.
Reason:
When the upper platen is moving, it stops abruptly affected by artificial influence.
Solution:
Distancecalibration.
Fault 2: The force value is always zero
Reason:
1) The force value coefficient is lost. 2) The sensor is damaged.
Solution:
1) Restore the parameters or contact our company to manually correct the force value coefficient.2) Replace the sensor.
