Carved from a single piece of Hetian white jade, this brush washer exemplifies the technical

skill of Qianlong carvers. Undulating grooves of vertical fluting carved to the basin's exterior

highlight the stones lustrous and flawless character. Issuing from either side, a delicate leave

cradling a flower bud unfurl into handles. The attention to detail appears in every facet of this

piece, as even the underside displays a naturalistic quatrefoil flower. Cleanly hollowed to the

interior, this carving in its expert simplicity illustrates the uniqueness of the Qianlong period's

Mughal-style jade wares.

乾隆時期內務府設立了專門仿製痕都斯坦玉的作坊。這些「西番作」玉器並沒有亦步亦趨地復

製痕都斯坦玉，而是吸取其造型別致、花紋流暢、胎體透薄的優點，結合中國工藝的傳統方

法，創造出帶有西番風格的玉器。這些中西結合的玉器直接影響了中國玉器的製作風格。

本件作品以整塊和闐白玉雕琢而成，質地細膩，瑩潤如脂，潔凈無瑕。其造型簡練，外壁呈多

弧組合式器腹，雕飾簡潔，中部掏空，雙耳雕成莨苕花苞，向下翻卷，下接莨苕花葉，底部雕

琢花瓣形，線條挺拔靈動，掏膛勻凈，體現出乾隆時期痕都斯坦玉器浮雕、圓雕等多種工藝。

本件作品之工藝及風格與故宮博物院館藏「乾隆禦題白玉桃式洗」、「乾隆禦題痕都斯坦白玉

海棠式洗」等兩件藏品相似度極高。
