English Vlog Project Plan and Rules

Introduc)on

Hey everyone, get ready for our super cool English Vlog Project! If you're part of the Media

Design B.A. program at the Art College (HNNU&MD.H), this one’s for you. We're all about

cranking up your English skills in the most fun and creaMve way possible. Grab your camera or

phone and start vlogging! Whether it's your day-to-day life or something you're totally stoked

about, we want to see it all in English. But hey, it's not just about geQng beRer at English –

you'll also get to flex those storytelling and video ediMng muscles. So, are you ready to join in,

share your story, and maybe learn a thing or two along the way? Let’s make some awesome

vlogs together！

Objec)ve

• To improve spoken English in a real-world context.

• To encourage creaMvity and self-expression through video.

• To culMvate essenMal video ediMng skills, emphasizing visual aestheMcs and design

principles relevant to art majors.

Par)cipants

• Open to all students of the the Media Design B.A. program at the Art College

(HNNU&MD.H).

• ParMcipaMon can be individual or in teams (maximum of 4 members per team).

Project Timeline

Launch Date: Nov.30th

Submission Deadline: Dec. 12th (a duraMon of 2 weeks for the project).

Review and Feedback: Dec. 12th-14th

Showcase and Awards: To be determined (December 14th - 20th)

Vlog Requirements

1. Dura)on: 5-10 minutes.

2. Language: English only (including any text or subMtles used in the video).

3. Content: Free choice (lifestyle, hobbies, art, campus life, etc.), but must adhere to the

guidelines of respect, inclusivity, and appropriateness.

4. Quality: Clear audio and video quality (720p resoluMon minimum).

Submission Guidelines

1. Please send your final vlog to the designated email address qz98@connect.hku.hk. (You are

also encouraged to share your video on social media plajorms like Weibo, Xiaohongshu,

Douyin, and Bilibili.)

2. Include a brief descripMon in English (25-50 words) summarizing the vlog content.

3. Provide names and student IDs of all parMcipants (if in a team).

Rules and Regula)ons

1. Originality: All content must be original and created by the parMcipants.

2. No Plagiarism: Any music, images, or other media used must be royalty-free or properly

credited.

3. RespecLul Content: No offensive or inappropriate language, images, or themes.

4. Adherence to Theme: While creaMvity is encouraged, the vlog should be relevant to the

parMcipant's life or chosen topic.

5. English Usage: Non-naMve accents are completely acceptable, but efforts should be made to

ensure clarity and correct usage.

Evalua)on Criteria

1. Language Proficiency: Fluency, vocabulary, pronunciaMon, and grammar.

2. Content Quality: Relevance, creaMvity, and engagement.

3. Produc)on Quality: Video and audio clarity, ediMng skills.

4. Overall Impact: How the vlog resonates with viewers, message conveyed.

Awards and Recogni)on

• Best Vlog Award: For outstanding overall performance.

• Crea)ve Content Award: For excepMonal creaMvity and originality.

• Best Edi)ng Award: For excellent video ediMng skills.
