ANATEL CERTIFICATION

Brazil ANATEL, National Telecommunication Agency (Agência Nacional de

Telecomunicações), is the regulatory authority for telecommunications.

Telecommunications products must be approved by ANATEL before selling in Brazil.

There are three types certification scheme of ANATEL according to

different products:

• TYPE 1a scheme:

Certification based on type testing. This model does not include the maintenance

stage. Including the products like battery, cables, multiplexer etc.

• TYPE 4 scheme:

Certification based on type testing with periodic product evaluation

(periodic maintenance). Including the products like Radio, transmitter,

converter, etc.

• TYPE 5 scheme:

Certification based on type testing with periodic product evaluation (periodic

maintenance) and the factory management system. Including the products like

mobile phone, modem, PABX, WWAN devices, ONT, xDSL modem, Mobile Phone’s

batteries and chargers, power bank, etc.

On 13 Nov, 2020, Brazil ANATEL (Agency National Telecommications) issued Act No.

6894, granting SGS ICS as OCD (Designated Certification Organization). OCD is the

legally constituted technical institution that, by delegation from ANATEL, conducts

conformity assessment processes for telecommunications products, within the scope

of compulsory certification, and issues the corresponding certificates of conformity.
