JAEGER-LECOULTRE Reverso Diamond set pocket watch This lot, Ref. 580.31.01, is a dazzling museum-quality pocket watch from the Reverso collection, featuring a reproduction of a work by the Czech painter Alphonse Mucha using micro-painted enamel. Known as the most difficult of the three techniques, micro-painted enamel is first applied to the metal surface, turning it into a pure white 'canvas', after which the watch is transformed into a miniature oil painting by the imagination of the craftsman. The famous painting on the case is taken from one of Mucha's quartet of works, Les Arts, titled Peinture, in which Mucha uses a bouquet of flowers to represent a brush, held in a woman's hand to convey the action of painting. The Jaeger master enamellers have perfected this classic work of art, and it is an enchanting sight to behold. Crafted entirely in 18-carat white gold, this dazzling pocket watch is set with 522 sparkling white VVS1 diamonds throughout the case. The crown is embellished with pastel sapphires and the caseback is adorned with mother-of-pearl. The pocket watch features a hand-wound movement with practical functions such as day and night, moon phases and a power reserve, as well as a fascinating micro-painted enamel finish, making it an exceptional collector's item.

The present watch contains a world-time function in platinum case and the depiction of the North Pole on the cloisonné enamel dial. Every dial is a unique piece of artwork, as the whole cloisonné enameling has to be handmade. First, the enamel artisan outlines the shapes with very fine gold wires in order to separate the different field of enamel colors, and then the dial is fired in a kiln at around 850 to 900 . The whole process repeats several times to intensify the colors and alter the translucency of the enamels. This wristwatch 5131P is a masterpiece with extraordinary craftsmanship. More significantly, this lot is equipped with a relatively rare platinum case and bracelet, which is surely a precious product in the watch market. 121

This model in pink gold, with a 40mm diameter case, is equipped with the Patek Philippe-manufactured CHR 29-535 PS Q hand-wound movement with a power reserve of 65 hours and a new patented technology that makes the timekeeping system even more accurate. The watch's delicate gearing, split seconds chronograph and perpetual calendar are sophisticated and complex, yet the layout of the dial remains clear and easy to read. The double apertures at 12 o'clock indicates the day of the week and the month; at the 6 o'clock position the date and moon phases are integrated; and the seconds hand and the 30-minute register occupy the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions.
