Composta da due scultoree

pale in legno che racchiudono

una sorgente luminosa tubolare,

nella sua costruzione trae

ispirazione dall’architettura

navale e dalla profonda

conoscenza del legno da parte

del designer.

First designed in 1963,

Seki-Han is a masterpiece

that reflects Scarpa’s refined

sensibility. Formed by two

sculptural wooden blades

enclosing a tubular light source,

its intricate construction draws

on naval architecture and

Scarpa’s deep knowledge of

woodworking.

Nella versione Motion, Skynest

sembra fluttuare nell’aria in un

equilibrio elegante, sostenuta da

uno stelo in tinta con i colori dei

paralumi. Lo stelo, agganciato al

soffitto e teso verso il pavimento

con un contrappeso, è quasi

invisibile per via del suo spessore

ridotto al minimo.

In the Motion version, Skynest

seems to float in the air in an

elegant balance, supported

by a stem matching the colors

of the lampshades. The stem,

hooked to the ceiling and

stretched towards the floor with a

counterweight, is almost invisible

due to its thickness reduced to

the minimum.

“Un giorno ero nel mio studio

e mi è venuto in mente che

si sarebbe potuto utilizzare

la luce nel modo in cui si

manifesta nel nostro ambiente

e nel nostro paesaggio,

mai diretta, ma spesso

attraversata dalle nubi o

riflessa dagli oggetti, dai

muri e dalle superfici. Quindi

anziché dire “disegniamo

una lampada” mi sono detto

“disegniamo un apparato

che sia in grado di prendere

la luce da una sorgente

artificiale e rifletterla

nell’ambiente con una certa

intelligenza e grazia”...

Ho preso una forbice, un

grande foglio di cartoncino e

ho iniziato a tagliare qualche

cosa che potesse diventare

un cilindro con alla sommità

un cappello più largo che,

ricongiunto sul lato destro

e sinistro, avrebbe potuto

servire da riflettore della

sorgente di luce ospitata nella

base.”

came to me that we could

use light the way it manifests

in our surroundings and our

landscapes—never directly,

but often through clouds or

reflected off objects, walls,

and surfaces. And so, instead

of saying ‘let’s design a

lamp’, I said, ‘let’s design

an apparatus that can take

light from an artificial source

and send it back into our

surroundings with a certain

intelligence and grace’... I

took some scissors, a big

piece of card, and I started

to cut out something that

could be made into a cylinder

with a wide hat on top that,

when joined on the right and

left-hand side, would act as

a reflector of the light source

The luminaire is made up of

four identical intertwined elements

which form a unified dome, drawing

its inspiration from ancient Japanese

armour. The name Tatou is French for

armadillo.

Il corpo illuminante è formato da

tra loro a formare una calotta unita,

ispirati alle classiche armature

giapponesi antiche. Il nome Tatou

deriva dal francese e significa
